The very first thing recorded in the Bible is work done on Sunday, the first day of the week. If God worked on this day, how can it be wicked for us to work on Sunday? God commands men to work upon the first day of the week (Exodus 20:8-11). Is it wrong to obey God?

The Sabbath (Shabbat in Hebrew) is one of Judaism’s greatest gifts to humanity.People in the ancient Near East had nothing similar to the Jewish concept of a weekly sacred day of rest. Other cultures in the past knew of a seven-day week based on the phases of the moon, but the Israelite Sabbath is not connected to the movements of celestial bodies.
It was considered the day on which God rested (Genesis 2:1-3). There are two problems involved with the misconception of working on Sunday being sinful. First, the Sabbath day is Saturday, not Sunday. The seventh day in the Jewish calendar has always been Saturday. Sunday is the first day of the week in the Jewish calendar.
The disciples met every day in the Temple where they worshipped God continuously (Luke 24:52-53). If they did so on ordinary days, how much more so would they have been in the Temple on a holy day. Even though Luke does not explicitly state that the events of Acts 2 took place in the Temple courts, the story infers that location.
